Schmidt Happens [Spill It Sunday #8]

Hey there! I hope your weekend is going well. Did you get hit with a ton of snow like I did? I was really worried all day yesterday that the high winds were going to knock a tree branch onto my car.
I’m currently coming off of a several (read: 9+) hour Harry Potter binge. That is what happens when I am snowed in and it’s Harry Potter weekend. When it calls, you must listen.
I guess it’s no surprise that I watch a lot of TV, then. I’ve always been a TV junkie over movie junkie, so when I found out Arman made today’s Spill It Sunday all about television, I was excited to say the least!

What was your favorite TV series growing up?
I had impeccable taste in television as a child. My favorite shows were Sailor Moon

and Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers. Kimberly, the Pink Ranger, was who I aspired to be for a very long time.

I also went through (and still kind of am in) a Spongebob phase. You can’t deny the greatness of the “Camping” episode. Please tell me you know what I’m talking about.

What is your current favorite TV series?
This is a toughie because you should be well-aware at this point that I am a big fan of many shows. I guess if I have to choose one, it would be New Girl (at the moment). I think that the acting and writing are spot-on in nearly every episode, and Schmidt may be the greatest character ever created. I watched this past week’s episode and actually cried at the end because I was laughing so hard.

If you could guest star on any television show, what would it be?
I would have love, love, loved to guest star on The Office… if it were still around. There’s not a show in the world that will replace The Office in my heart.

What genre of TV do you enjoy the most?
My favorite genre is smart humor (think The Mindy Project, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, etc.). I also really enjoy drama or teen drama (think Pretty Little Liars, Suits, American Horror Story). Annnnd I love girly shows (think Drop Dead Diva, The Bachelor/Bachelorette). Finally, I am a big talk show watcher (GMA, Kelly & Michael, Rachael Ray, The Chew). Oh, and anything Food Network, especially The Pioneer Woman.

Ten million dollars to the first person to name this woman:

Which series do you think should not have been renewed after it’s first season?
Raising Hope. It’s just too over the top and tries too hard, in my opinion. It kind of reminds me of My Name Is Earl, which I didn’t like.

Which series do you think deserved to be renewed but was not?
Ahhh this one makes me so. mad. Don’t Trust the B—- in Apt. 23 should never have been cancelled. It was highly under-appreciated. Krysten Ritter played an excellent role as a snobby, conniving roommate. I have an affinity for her.

I’ll catch ya later!

Question of the Day:
>>Fave show?
>>What show would you axe if you were a network exec?

  1. Haha tv binges. I have a feeling that will be me today, enjoying My last day of freedom. I did a 14 hour PLL marathon once. Not ashamed. The OC is the only show I can go back and watch a hundred times and never get sick of. I miss it. Now that I’m talking about it, I think I may know which show is on the agenda, although I’m a sucker for hgtv.

  2. I love Schmidt! He is probably one of my favorite characters in all the shows I’m watching!
I also love the Food Network and Sandra Lee, girl loves her alcohol 🙂

  3. This was probably one of my favorite spill it sunday theme. Fun learning what you do/dont like to watch. I’m pretty much obsessed with Scandal, Sons of Anarchy, HIMYM, House Hunters and Triple D

    1. I do like HIMYM a lot! I haven’t watched much of the last season though. I am interested to see what they will do with the spinoff series they’re making aka how i met your father (have you heard of that?). I need to start watching Scandal asap.

  4. Ugh. I was never allowed to watch Sailor Moon growing up, but I know I would have loved it. I completely forgot about Power Rangers. Kimberly was awesome. But really, I enjoyed all of the Power Ranger series and the pink girls were always my favorite 🙂

I really liked the first season of New Girl, but the latest one, not so much. Maybe it was just a few dud episodes and I should give it another chance?

No! Taylor beat me to it. Sandra Lee is great. We have a ton of her cookbooks in our kitchen.

I kind of liked Raising Hope. It was funny but I couldn’t watch it for more than an episode. It could have been a great one season series though. Don’t Trust the B was great.

Sponge Bob was not the worst show on when I was younger, but I still didn’t like it. I don’t remember the Camping episode, but I do remember the episode where all of these little Sponge Bob minions burned all of this file cabinets (aka “memories”) in his brain and then he couldn’t remember a thing. I think that was my favorite episode.

    1. I think NG is trying to find their footing with Jess and Nick dating but this last episode I think put them back on the right track. Sandra cracks me up. Spongebob is one of the only cartoons I will watch. Not so much their new ones, they’re strange. But the old episodes are classics for me.

    1. I need to watch Breaking Bad all the way through .I already know I like it but I just could never catch it when it was on bc my fam would be watching Walking Dead or something. I used to have a crush on him too!!

  5. Sailor Moon!!! I remember that show!

Fun/Dirty fact- Sailor Moon got banned from TV here in Australia because apparently there was an episode where Sailor Moon was naked and it was considered child pornography.

I didn’t know don’t trust the b…. was cancelled? It just hit our screens!

    1. Really?!? That’s so funny! I remember that they always went through that transformation which I thought was pretty racy but I never thought the show was that bad. and yeah don’t trust the b doesn’t last long. Disappointing.

  6. I used to love Sailor Moon. I watched all the episodes and always rented the DVDs at Blockbuster. Doesn’t that take you back?
    Power Rangers for the win!
The Office will forever be placed in my heart.
We have a lot of similar tastes in TV shows. 🙂
