Join Me in the #PowerbowlChallenge

I don’t usually post on the weekends, but I’m just stopping in for a quickie post!

A brief recap of my morning so far: I had a long run scheduled and planned to get out early to avoid the heat. Well, wouldn’t you know as soon as I got out of bed, the sky unleashed its fury and lighting and rain ruined my plans. Usually I love morning thunderstorms but not today.

I’m going to get out there later barring the weather changes (hopefully it doesn’t get too muggy and hot!). In the meantime, I have grocery shopping to do 🙂

The real reason I wanted to pop in today was to tell you about a challenge I saw this morning. Kasey over at PowerCakes is hosting a challenge on Challenge Loop in conjunction with IDEA FIT. It’s called the POWERBOWL Challenge.

Basically, the idea is that every day you eat at least one POWERBOWL, a bowl filled with healthy goodness that feeds you with energy and… power. I love the idea of the challenge because, truly, a lot of us probably eat POWERBOWLS often without even realizing it. Even a big ol’ salad can be a POWERBOWL!

All you have to do is post a picture of your POWERBOWL on the Challenge Loop page and use the hashtag #PowerbowlChallenge. To download the app, visit this site or search for it in the App Store.

Oh and did I mention there’s a pretty awesome prize? A random winner will receive an Under Armour swag bag with some of Kasey’s faves! Visit the POWERBOWL Challenge page for all the deets and rules/to answer any other questions you might have!

Have a great Saturday!

Let me know in the comments/through email if you decide to do the challenge with me!

Friday Favorites

I haven’t done a Friday Favorites post in a pretty long time! I think that the perfect way to kick off a long weekend is with a recap of some posts, recipes, pins, etc. that caught my eye this week.

Posts:

Favorite thought:
Running IS the greatest form of exercise (IMO). I totally agree. Every time I get into a workout slump, I always go back to running.

Favorite bite:
Dates are my best friend. No, not that kind of date… those are more like my worst enemy. Mixed the dried fruit kind with some pistachios and it sounds like a winning snack to me!

Favorite tips:
Take this advice if you’re new to the college game or just need a little help getting things together! It’s some good stuff.

Favorite blogging:
We could all use a little nudge in the right direction sometimes. I am always looking at help articles when it comes to blogging and what I could do better. This are simple but essential pieces of blogging advice.

Pins:

Favorite decoration:
As a girl who loves her candy, I think this would be the perfect way to add some color and quirk to a room!

Favorite necklace:
I’m very into bib necklaces and chunky necklaces at the moment. The chambray and gray really do well with this pop of color! Perf for fall transition.

Favorite fun:
It’s no secret I’ve been obsessed with watermelon. Even though the pin’s original source is for a kid’s bday party, tell me this wouldn’t be the cutest table piece at your Labor Day party!?

Favorite funny:
I really like James Franco. I think he’s a versatile actor, and I will even give him a pass on being in the worst movie I’ve ever seen – Spring Breakers – because he actually acted the part well. BUT this article from thought catalog… it’s hilarious and captures his (maybe somewhat conceited) persona.

Have a great Friday and an awesome long weekend!

Question of the Day:
Tell me your plans for the weekend or leave me a link of one of your faves from the week!

Finding A Routine [WIAW #21]

The first week of school is all about finding a schedule for me. I didn’t end up working out yesterday because I thought I was going to have absolutely no break in my day (not even for food) for 10 1/2 hours. WELL. The thought of that was actually unbearable for me, so I dropped a three hour class and added an online one! Problem solved and now Tuesdays will be a little more stress-free.

I ended up having some yummy eats yesterday and my day looked more like three square meals, which is unusual for me. Lunch was pretty snacky though. So without further ado, here are my What I Ate Wednesday eats (from Tuesday, obvs).

Oh, and a big thanks to Jenn for hosting us! You should definitely check out the link-up. It’s one of my favorite ways to find new bloggers.

Breakfast

GUYS! I had the opportunity to try Love Grown Foods Super Oats, their newest product! I won the two varieties on an Instagram contest. Let me tell you, these oats are SO good. They cooked up perfectly in three minutes and were actually the consistency I prefer. I just added a banana to the top and voila, breakfast was served. I add chia seeds to my oats already, so it was cool to see them already included. The other seeds added a great texture to the oats.

Drink

I had a really random craving for Kombucha yesterday, so I just rolled with it. I picked out a Reed’s Kombucha in the Hibiscus Ginger Grapefruit flavor. I drank it in class to keep me occupied on the ever-boring syllabus day. And yes I stopped mid-sidewalk to take that picture.

Lunch

Lunch_21

I ate lunch at work, and it was a hodgepodge of snacks to keep me full until dinner. My snacky meal included brown bag microwaved popcorn, watermelon, vanilla Cho, and trail mix.

Dinner

The sauerkraut kick is still happening. I don’t know what to think about it! I satisfied that craving yesterday alongside some chicken, spaghetti squash, and zucchini. Never. forget. the ketchup.

Dessert

I really wanted something sweet after dinner. I remembered I had some chocolate left over in my cupboard and that did the trick! Dark chocolate only, please. And ignore the toes there.

I had a bunch of meetings later in the day, but my classes gave me a really great outlook on the year. I will have more work to do than my senior self would prefer, but it’s nothing unbearable and if I get my degree in the end, worth it.

After my meetings I watch the season finale of Pretty Little Liars. UMMM. If you watch the show, you will understand why I am completely devastated with the way it ended. I don’t know how I will make it until the next season. I will have to keep the hope alive that what they showed was misleading.

Now I’m off to go lament about how everything I know is wrong.

Have a good day!

Question of the Day:
Have you tried Love Grown’s new product yet, and if no, do you want to? I think you should!
& If you watch PLL, please cry with me.
